Female Shapes I

$50.00 CAD

A simple collection of colour and form, Female Shapes transforms from bold abstraction to muted realism the longer you look. Eventually, one might see the figure of a woman curled in on herself, a subject communicating a range of emotions in her posture. From sadness to pensive thought, whatever the audience discerns from her form rings true as the neutral colour palette emphasizes an array of emotions yet is subdued enough to leave intuitive interpretation up to the eye of the beholder.

How to interpret

  • The use of simple geometric shape is an abstract method, but the placement of such shapes maintains the realism of the subject’s form
  • The absence of the subject’s face places the emotion of the piece onto the posture of the pose, creating feeling out of form
  • The neutrality of the colour palette is subdued enough to be interpreted in a number of ways, based on the environment of the piece and the eye of the beholder

This fine art print has a limited edition count of 25 per size and material.

CREATED BY Aleeza Yermus

My interest in art, photography and visual learning began at a young age, where I attended classes at the Academy of Artisans at the age of 6. Since then, I've taken painting, drawing and design classes throughout my schooling where I've been lucky to learn from the talented and inspiring people around me.

My favourite mediums are acrylic painting, sketching, digital prints and photography, where I enjoy capturing moments, emotions, conveying truths, hidden messages and underlying meaning through the visual.

I've found if you look closely enough, traces of art can be found in the most seemingly ordinary devices. Almost anything can be considered art, which is why I find abstract art especially liberating and compelling.

My favourite style is abstract realism, which strikes a beautiful balance between creativity and reality. I use Pinterest as my main source of inspiration across different mediums, which I find especially helpful when commissioning pieces for others.

My artistic journey has been an inspiring one thus far and I can't wait to see what's in store for the future.
